3. Rock Climbing

There are all types of rock climbing levels available from top roping to bouldering. If you are new to rock climbing, you’ll need to be aware of the following.

  • You’ll need rock climbing shoes. You can rent them, but if you plan on going more often, it’s a good idea to buy some. You can find a good pair on sale.
  • For top roping you’ll need a guide. It doesn’t matter if it’s a friend or a paid professional. It’s totally worth going with a guide for the learning experience.
  • For bouldering you will need a climbing buddy and a crash pad. Crash pads fold up and come with shoulder straps for easy transport.

4. Mountain Biking

Go explore your neighborhood. With a little research and some asking around you’ll be surprised to learn how many gems are right in your backyard. Mountain biking gets you off the road and out into nature. You don’t need a top of the line bike for riding easy single track trails. Mountain biking is a great alternative to road biking because the trail offers obstacles for a fun challenge.
